Key Messages

• Food access remains fragile, although the majority (60%) reported acceptable food consumption (IPC P1-P2), about half (54%) reported experiencing moderate hunger (IPC P3) and a third (27%) relying on emergency-level livelihood coping strategies because of lack of food or income (IPC P4).

• Low incomes are driving harmful coping, as household income remains below the Minimum Expenditure Basket in all five counties, pushing households towards debt and asset depletion.

• Water insecurity remains widespread, with 66% of households classified as water insecure and many facing long distances, unreliable supply and reliance on surface water.

• WASH and nutrition gaps compound vulnerability, as 30% practise open defecation, 67% lack a household handwashing facility and only 5% of children aged 6–23 months meet the Minimum Acceptable Diet.

• Assistance remains insufficient: only 25% of assisted households (n = 1,664) reported that support met all their most important needs.
